In this article I will discuss the words of 3 Sabbatian prophets who spoke of “the tribulations directly preceding the coming of the messiah” in ways that bear shocking resemblance to World War II and the Holocaust, though written centuries before. These 3 Sabbatian Prophets of the Apocalypse are Heshel Tsoref, Nathan of Gaza, and Jacob Frank.
Heshel Tsoref
“Out of the north an evil shall break forth” – Jeremiah 1:14
Sabbatian prophet Heshel Tsoref revealed a Kabbalistic tradition conveying that “the tribulations directly preceding the messiah would take place in Poland.”
The word for ‘North’ in Hebrew is ‘Tsefon’ (צפון) which has a numerical value of 226. The name of ‘Poland Lithuania’ spelled in Hebrew is ‘Polin Lita’ (פולין ליטא) which also has a gematria of 226.
Tsefo was the grandson of Esau and the brother of Amalek, making him a symbol of the kingdom of Edom. The name ‘Tsefo’ is derived from the same root as ‘Tsefo’ meaning ‘North.’ Tsefo’s name (צפו) has a numerical value of 176, the same as that Poland or ‘Polin’ (פולין).
Samael is the Archon of Esau and his progeny, such as Tsefo. Thus, Samael is the Archon of Poland, and Poland is the Kingdom of Edom.
There is a tradition not to say the name of Samael out loud, as to not invoke him. He is often instead called “The Samek Mem” (סם) refering to the first two letters of his name. Other times he is referred to with a Hebrew word that is essentially equivalent to the English “John-Doe” or “so and so,” colloquialisms used in place of saying someone’s name. This Hebrew word is Ploni (פלני) which contains the same letters as Polin (פולין), the Hebrew name of Poland.
Considering all of this, it is remarkable that World War II broke out in Poland, the land that the Sabbatian Prophets identified with the kingdom of Edom and the biblical verse “out of the North a great evil shall break forth.” (Jeremiah 1:14)
The Kabbalistic connections between the Samael and World War 2 only begin there. Samael (םמאל) has a numerical value of 131, which relates to the name of one of the top Nazi war criminals, Adolf Eichman. When Eichman is spelled in Hebrew (אייכמן) it also has a numerical value of 131.
There is a method of “inner gematria” where the “inner essence of the letters” is revealed. This means that rather than spelling the word, you spell out each letter of the word. Simply spelling the word is considered the “outer gematria.” When this method is applied to the name ‘Samael’ it adds to 385 (which is also the gematria of Shekinah). When we subtract the outer gematria of Samael, which is 131, from the full inner gematria of 385, we are left with 254.
When the name ‘Hitler’ is spelled in Hebrew (היטלר) it has a numerical value of 254. Therefore the names of both ‘Hitler’ and ‘Eichman’ are identified with ‘Samael’ through gematria.
It is also worth noting that Eichman was one of 10 Nazi war criminals hung at Nuremberg. In the Torah the 10 sons of Haman were executed by hanging after they were defeated in their attempt to eradicate the children of Israel. Haman was a descendent of Amalek, who was the brother of Tsefo and a descendent of Esau. Thus Haman and his 10 sons represent the kingdom of Edom and are also a symbol of Samael.
Nathan of Gaza
Much like Heshel Tsoref, who spoke of how “a great evil shall break forth” from Poland, another Sabbatian prophet, Nathan of Gaza, predicted that a great “slaughter among the uncircumcised ‘in the German lands’” would center be centered in Poland.
Nathan explained that the messianic aeon would be ushered in by “the forces of Stern Judgement,” understood in Kabbalah as the martial sphere ruling over war and bloodshed, Geburah.
Jacob Frank
‘The Red Letters’ were written in 1800 by the disciples of Jacob Frank and attributed to their Messianic leader. This document claimed that the events of the time were leading to what would be the greatest massacre of Jews in the worlds history.
There has always been an association between the coming of the messiah and massacres of Jews. The Zohar spoke of a prophecy hidden in the Torah stating that the year 1648 would be an auspicious time for the coming of the messiah, and this was in fact the year the Sabbatai Sevi first declared himself Messiah. However this was also the year of the Khmelnytsky Uprising, one of the largest massacres of Jews in history. Tens of thousands of Jews were slaughtered under the leadership of Khmelnytsky, a nobleman of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
The Sabbatian movement was forged in these fires. Sabbatai’s wife Sarah was said to be an orphan of the these massacres who was rescued and raised by members of the Polish nobility. She was a formative figure in the early Sabbatian movement since its inception. It is interesting to note this considering that Jacob Frank considered the ultimate goal of his movement to be the infiltration of the Polish nobility, by converting to Christianity or ‘entering Edom,’ over a century after Sarah Sevi’s emergence from the Polish nobility into her wifehood of the messiah.
This is the massacre that Nathan of Gaza was referring to when he declared “that the messiah would wreak vengeance only on the ‘cities of Poland’ for the Jewish blood shed there.”
This all makes the statements of ‘The Red Letters’ even more shocking at the time they were published. ‘The Age of Enlightenment’ had significantly shifted societal boundaries since the time of the Cossacks. To suggest that the greatest massacre against Jews was yet still in the future would have been controversial, yet it ended up being true.
The so-called “scientific” anti-semitism of the Nazi’s was ‘post-Frankist’ in the sense that it did not identify Jews along religious lines, but rather racially. In the past anti-semitism was religious. By converting to Christianity Jews could escape persecution and even hold rank in Christian society. Hitler cited this as his rationale for why the anti-semitism of Nazi Germany must have a genetic and “scientific” basis, rather than a religious one.
‘The Red Letters’ explicitly state that the coming massacre of Jews can only be escaped by ‘Entering Edom’ or converting to Christianity. This was Frank’s message to his chosen disciples, to separate themselves from the Jewish population, who would soon face mass destruction.
